This was painted for my sister to decorate her home. It is not wholly abstract, but the abstract portion represents life’s catastrophes that we must wade through. When our world is collapsing around us, we seek peace of mind. Some people seek this peace through prayer and others seek peace through drugs and alcohol. My sister has had her share of ups and downs as everyone does and she has weathered the storm. In these situations, all we can do is find our place in this world and seek peace of mind. My sister is quiet, but under her silence is grace and strength. She reminds me of my mother because she can become a tiger, when necessary, but chooses to live like a lamb.
The background is a chaos of geometrical shapes. On the far right the sun is breaking apart. The earth is slanting downhill. I was trying to create the feeling that everything was sliding down out of control.

I love having this painting in my home. I cherish the fact that my talented brother has gifted me many paintings and display them proudly. More importantly, my brother is a wonderful soul and we are blessed to have him in our family.
